The 2016 Taipei International Book Exhibition Kicks Off with Travel Book Festival Discounts to Attract Crowds

The 24th Taipei International Book Exhibition in 2016 was held from February 16 to 21 at the World Trade Center Halls 1 and 3, featuring a six-day reading carnival with non-stop, diverse content from morning till night, leading book lovers to "read and fly toward the world."

This year’s theme country of the book fair is Hungary, located at the very heart of Europe, home to 15 Nobel Prize laureates, including one Nobel Prize in Literature. It is a country brimming with endless talent and creativity in both literature and science. The Hungary Theme Pavilion collaborated specially with the Balassi Institute, Hungary's foremost cultural promoter, to comprehensively showcase Hungary’s publishing and cultural landscape through a diverse range of publications.

In addition to the Hungary Theme Pavilion, other exhibition areas were equally impressive, including the Eileen Chang Special Exhibition, the Taipei World Design Capital Special Exhibition, the Taipei International Original Exchange Exhibition, the Literature and Art Book Zone, the Taiwan Publishing Theme Pavilion, the Jimmy Liao VR New Vision Experience Zone, and the Children’s Picture Book Theme Pavilion. This year also introduced the “Back-to-School Fun Book Fair” activity for the first time. With all-encompassing content, educational and entertaining exhibition experiences, and free admission for teenagers under 18, it fully demonstrated the abundant domestic and international reading energy.
