Pink flower sea in full bloom: Two cherry blossom hotspots welcome the season early

The popular cherry blossom spots in New Taipei City—Tamsui Tianyuan Temple and Pingjing Street—are welcoming the cherry blossom season earlier this year. At Tianyuan Temple, the tricolor cherry blossoms are about 80% in bloom, and this week is the best time to view them. Visitors can walk about 10 minutes up the mountain path on the left side of the temple courtyard to enjoy the blossoms. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are expected to bloom in March.

In addition to the nearly full bloom of the tricolor cherry blossoms at Tianyuan Temple, the other renowned cherry blossom spot in Yangmingshan, Pingjing Street, has also started to blossom. Pingjing Street is known for its pale pink cherry and mountain cherry blossoms, which usually begin blooming in late January each year. Both Pingjing Street and Jingshan Road have bike stations. Due to their exposure to the wind and climatic conditions, the cherry blossoms in the area are currently about 50% in bloom, making it a top choice for cyclists seeking a scenic ride.
