The super-cute Kumamon train hits the tracks – two must-ride Tokyo trains

Japan’s Keikyu Electric Railway, which connects the airport with central Tokyo, has recently launched a new themed train. In addition to the already operational “Taiwan Railway Themed Train,” starting February 29, it will unveil the “Kumamon Painted Train,” making it a new highlight not to be missed for travelers visiting Tokyo.

In collaboration with Kumamoto City in Japan, Keikyu Electric Railway has newly launched the “Kumamon Painted Train” starting February 29. The 2100 series train has been modified with cute Kumamon characters appearing all over the exterior, while the interior provides various sightseeing information about Kumamoto, including food, nature, and cultural attractions. Available until March 25, passengers traveling from Haneda Airport toward central Tokyo or Yokohama have a chance to ride it.

Additionally, until March 26, passengers riding Keikyu Electric Railway may also encounter the “Taiwan Railway Themed Train,” also refurbished from the 2100 series. Not only has it been transformed into the classic blue body with white stripes, but the train also displays the Taiwan Railway Administration logo, making it look so authentic that onlookers might think a real Taiwan Railway train is passing by.
