The Fulong Sand Sculpture Art Festival features the world’s tallest sand sculpture

The most anticipated “2016 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival” was held from May 7 to July 10 at Fulong Beach. This year’s exhibition showcased the world’s tallest giant sand sculpture, along with representations of Taiwan’s night markets, Pingxi Sky Lanterns, and newly elected President Tsai Ing-wen, all of which became themes of this year’s sand sculptures.

The Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival entered its ninth edition this year, featuring 24 top sand sculptors from 13 countries who created 80 sand sculptures. This year’s theme, “Glory of Golden Sand – The Best in the World,” included a massive 11-meter-tall sand sculpture depicting famous landmarks such as Taipei 101, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the Twin Towers, and Tokyo Skytree. A remarkably lifelike sand sculpture of newly elected President Tsai Ing-wen was also on display.
