Admire cherry blossoms on the Crystal Gondola – New highlights of the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village Cherry Blossom Festival

The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, the largest cherry blossom destination in central Taiwan, features up to 5,000 cherry trees that bloom successively starting from late January. The 2018 Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village Cherry Blossom Festival runs from February 1 to April 15. In addition to vast cherry blossom gardens and the best night cherry blossom views in Taiwan, it also pairs perfectly with the transparent Crystal Gondola launched at Sun Moon Lake on New Year’s Day, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms from high above.

During the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village Cherry Blossom Festival, events such as picnic days and cherry blossom markets are held. Visitors can ride a hand-pulled rickshaw from Asakusa and dress up in traditional yukata to enjoy the scenic views along the way, as if traveling back in time to Japan’s Edo period. Additionally, free photography workshops are offered to teach visitors how to take great cherry blossom photos on their first try. Moreover, nighttime viewing is available starting February 10, with the Cherry Blossom Lake illuminated by lights, creating a stunning and enchanting scene — Taiwan’s premier night cherry blossom experience.

Since the launch of the transparent Crystal Gondola at Sun Moon Lake on New Year’s Day, it has been widely loved by visitors. The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village has also introduced an exclusive offer for residents in central Taiwan: discounted tickets at NT$650 (original price NT$850). Not only can visitors enjoy the amusement rides, but they can also watch indigenous performances and ride the Sun Moon Lake Gondola. Residents of Yunlin, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, and Miaoli who present their ID cards upon entry can enjoy the special ticket price of NT$650 and also receive NT$100 in pocket money.
