“Leave only your footprints in front of the beautiful scenery” – Penghu removes trash bins from tourist spots

Penghu boasts some of the world’s most beautiful bays and unique island scenery, attracting millions of visitors every year. To instill proper environmental awareness among tourists visiting Penghu, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has started removing trash bins from certain scenic spots starting today, calling on all visitors to “take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints.”

In line with the policies of “No Littering in Scenic Spots” and “Keep the Ground Litter-Free,” the Penghu Administration Office has reviewed the necessity and quantity of trash bins at recreational sites based on their natural landscape features and visitor frequency. Starting in March, it has removed trash bins from certain scenic areas. However, bins have been retained at a few high-traffic locations near shops where there is still demand to facilitate visitors.

The Penghu Administration Office urges visitors to take their trash with them to help maintain the quality of the tourism environment — a responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation. In the face of such beautiful scenery, please leave only your travel footprints.
