Relive the emotional scores of Studio Ghibli animations with the Joe Hisaishi concert coming to Taiwan

The Joe Hisaishi & WORLD DREAM ORCHESTRA 2016 will conclude its tour with a final performance in Taiwan on Saturday, August 20.

Established in 2004, the New Japan Philharmonic WORLD DREAM Symphony Orchestra is known for performing cross-genre and captivating works. Each concert features a specific theme, including original compositions by Joe Hisaishi, as well as iconic movie soundtracks, jazz, musicals, progressive rock, and classical masterpieces. Since its inception, the orchestra has consistently delivered powerful symphonic performances.
This year’s Joe Hisaishi & WORLD DREAM ORCHESTRA 2016 features an unprecedented large-scale nationwide tour across Japan, with its only international performance taking place in Taiwan. The world premiere of Joe Hisaishi’s brand-new, previously unreleased composition ‘THE EAST LAND SYMPHONY’ suite will also be performed during the tour.

The program also includes the symphonic suite ‘Symphonic Suite PRINCESS MONONOKE’ from Hayao Miyazaki’s classic animated film “Princess Mononoke.” This marks the return of an all-Joe Hisaishi composition set since 2008, aiming to deliver rich and profound music to the audience.
Tickets for all performances across Japan sold out on the first day of release, with many shows receiving enthusiastic applause and standing ovations, reflecting the exceptional quality of the performances.

Taiwan is the only overseas performance location. The first half will open with ‘THE EAST LAND SYMPHONY,’ consisting of five consecutive movements, while the second half will feature the symphonic suite ‘Symphonic Suite "PRINCESS MONONOKE"’ inspired by the famous animated film “Princess Mononoke.”
Soprano Shiori Ichihara has been invited to perform vocals for “Princess Mononoke” during this tour.
The intricate details of the performance, including the use of the taiko drum, are also highly anticipated.
