The mild typhoon "Malou" has formed, leading to rising temperatures and the risk of heavy rain

Typhoon No. 13 "Malou" formed at 8:00 AM today. The tropical depression, which was previously located south of the Ryukyu Islands, is slowly moving northeastward and is currently about 300 kilometers from Taiwan. The weather bureau predicts it will head northeast toward the southern waters of Japan, with a low probability of directly affecting Taiwan. However, its outer cloud bands may bring some brief showers to northern Taiwan.

Currently, the most significant impact on Taiwan is the large low-pressure system covering the island, which has increased moisture levels in the surrounding area. The weather bureau has issued heavy rain warnings for New Taipei City, Keelung and the northern coast, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Pingtung, and Taitung. Other areas also face a chance of localized heavy rain or torrential rain, and the heat effect in the afternoon will intensify. Those heading out should carry rain gear and stay hydrated to guard against rising temperatures when the sun comes out in the afternoon.
