Taichung Color Ink Art Festival’s “Wind Playing with Fish” Landscape Installation Captivates

Since its launch in 2002, the Color Ink Art Festival has moved to the Port of Taichung Arts Center for the first time. This year’s edition centers on the theme of “fish,” integrating an international color ink fish art exhibition, landscape installation art, interactive technology installations, and extending to a series of related events, showcasing the diverse and colorful artistic expressions of fish. The highlight of this year’s festival invites outstanding artworks from both domestic and international artists, featuring 205 pieces from 167 artists across 31 countries. Artists from around the world creatively depict various forms of fish on canvas, with the exhibited works showcasing a wide range of styles, full of imagination and creativity.

The TSAI-MO ART (Color Ink Art) movement emerged in the 1990s. Starting in 1996, it held international color ink touring exhibitions in Taiwan, the United States, Canada, El Salvador, Malaysia, France, Poland, Spain, and Mexico, receiving high praise from the domestic and international art communities. In 2002, the Taichung City Government established the “Taichung Color Ink Art Festival.” Thanks to the long-term participation and dedication of color ink artists from around the world, what was originally an annual national event alternating with an international one expanded starting in 2005 into an annual international color ink art event, with a different theme featured each year.

The 15th Taichung Color Ink Art Festival innovatively combines landscape installation art, inviting artist Lai Guan-zhong to focus on the theme of fish. Drawing inspiration from life and nature, the creations convey the beauty and inspiration nature brings to people. The works feature angular, segmented cuts, with each side illuminated by night lighting to display different colors, while also reminding viewers of the importance of environmental awareness and protection.

To provide a deeper understanding of color ink art, the event also features a range of hands-on and display activities, including color ink DIY experiences and a color ink art culture shuttle bus, aiming to enhance public appreciation for fine arts and connect with global art trends.
