Since the U.S. presidential election on November 9, the dollar has strengthened, while the yen first rose then fell. This has led many Japan enthusiasts and travelers planning to visit Japan soon to exchange yen early or wait to see if a better exchange rate will emerge. Market reports indicate that the trend of the dollar's strong rebound is not as robust as expected, and there hasn't been much positive news regarding the U.S. economic and financial situation during this period. The yen and euro are relatively more likely to stop falling and start rising again.

As of December 6, the exchange rate for yen at Taiwan’s banks was 0.2835. The recent lowest rate was around 0.2805 (occurring between November 23–24). It’s unlikely the rate will fall below 0.28 again. With the yen expected to rise against the dollar in 2017, those who need to exchange yen soon may want to do so at the right moment.
