Get ready for the Fukuoka Plum Blossom Festival 2018

After days of snowfall, spring blossoms are just around the corner. Among them, inJapanFukuoka, the Ishibashi Cultural Center in Kurume will be the first to hold the “Spring Flower Festival 2018 – Plum Blossom Festival” starting February 10th, when the plum blossoms in the garden are in full bloom, celebrating the arrival of spring together.

Every year around mid-February, about 140 white and red plum trees in the Ishibashi Cultural Center garden burst into bloom, heralding the coming of spring. On February 25th, there's also a special event called the “Plum Blossom Walk,” where participants can stroll through the famous “Baikinzan Temple” plum grove and other scenic spots in Kurume, then relax in a natural free-flowing hot spring—very soothing.

In addition, during the Plum Blossom Festival, Cafe “Rokusuitei” will serve plum-themed kaiseki meals and plum cakes, among others. There will also be an exhibition and workshop on traditional Japanese origami as a delightful side activity after viewing the blossoms.Japan-style origami exhibitions and hands-on workshops are also available during the Plum Blossom Festival, making for a pleasant extra activity after enjoying the plum blossoms.
