The Colorful Flower Fields Make a Grand Debut, Rivaling the Hokkaido Taipower Sea of Flowers Festival

With the Lunar New Year approaching, many people take advantage of the extended holiday to travel across Taiwan, and local governments have launched special events to boost tourism. Flower festivals have become a key part of spring outings. The 2017 Taibao City Flower Festival in Chiayi made a grand debut, featuring a vast sea of colorful flowers composed of rapeseed blossoms, cosmos, and more. This year, a nearly five-meter-tall "Happiness Bear" made of straw was a special highlight that caught everyone’s eye. The Taibao Flower Festival created a 25-hectare dreamy, colorful flower field paired with various installations. On the opening day, tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the site, marking an unprecedented turnout. The flower season is expected to run until January 31, making it a great destination for those visiting during the Lunar New Year holiday.
