The world’s largest lantern creation—countless highlights at the Taiwan Lantern Festival

The 2017 Taiwan Lantern Festival was held in Yunlin, undoubtedly the most lively celebration of the Lantern Festival across Taiwan. Two lantern zones in Huwei and Beigang created a total area of 50 hectares, featuring 20 themed special lantern areas. In addition to the pioneering installation of over 19,000 full-color LED lighting circuits and a 23-meter-tall main lantern named "Phoenix Coming with Grace," it's worth mentioning that the Beigang Chaotian Temple lantern area became the world’s largest lantern and also a milestone in the history of the Taiwan Lantern Festival.

Since Beigang is the birthplace of Taiwanese lanterns and the national historic site Chaotian Temple, which represents domestic temple architecture, itself serves as the main lantern, internationally acclaimed master Zhou Lian, who created the lighting effect for the Statue of Liberty in the U.S., was invited to personally craft the beautiful Chaotian Temple into the most stunning lantern display.
