Thanks for waiting—the official opening of Gyudon no Oukasu Han Shen Dome Store is set for April 20!

Established in Kyoto in 1967 and producing 2 million dumplings a day, Japan’s specialty dumpling chain Gyudon no Oukasu will officially open its first Taiwanese store at Han Shen Dome on April 20. With 700 outlets already across Japan, the brand is now making its official entry into the Taiwanese market.

The Japanese chain Gyudon no Oukasu, which announced its entry into the Taiwanese market in 2016, revealed on February 13 that its first Taiwan outlet would be located on the 4th floor of Kaohsiung Han Shen Dome Shopping Mall, featuring 72 seats. The decision to open the brand’s first Taiwan store in the Kaohsiung area—rare for an international brand choosing Kaohsiung as its debut location in Taiwan—has excited many locals.

Gyudon no Oukasu resolved to enter the Taiwanese market at a board meeting last year (2016), and on January 5 of this year (2017), formally registered Wangjiang Catering Service Co., Ltd. in Taiwan, which was approved by Taipei City Government. However, it came as a surprise that the first Taiwan store wouldn’t be in Taipei, but instead at Kaohsiung’s Han Shen Dome Shopping Mall.
