Located in a lane in Xinyi District, Sammi Thai specializes in homemade sauces. Since opening just over half a year ago, its Thai hot pot has become a hit with many diners. The shop features many signature dishes, which we’ll introduce one by one below. Papaya Salad
Shredded green papaya is paired with cherry tomatoes and green beans, resulting in a very refreshing flavor. Topped with the shop’s unique sauce based on fish sauce and lemon juice, it tastes slightly sweeter than other Thai dishes—more akin to the flavors found in Thailand.

Spicy Chicken
The spicy sauce is homemade by the shop, simmered with fried Sichuan peppercorns and other seasonings. Unlike other places, it isn’t poured directly onto the dish. The owner explained that pouring it on in advance would make the wrapper soggy over time, ruining the texture. By serving it separately, diners can first enjoy the chicken’s natural flavor, then the crispness of the wrapper, and finally adjust the taste by dipping in the sauce—offering three distinct flavor experiences in one dish.

Thai Hot Pot
The shop’s Thai hot pot is available in two flavors: coconut green curry and spicy sour. Both are based on a pork broth, which is made by simmering big bones and chicken bones with fresh vegetables and a variety of Southeast Asian spices and seasonings to create these two rich flavors.

Crispy Spring Rolls
The shrimp paste in these spring rolls is made fresh daily by the shop. Each roll contains a whole shrimp, with minimal fish or squid paste added. The shredded squid is finely chopped and mixed with the shrimp for seasoning, paired with the shop’s homemade plum sauce—resulting in a dish that’s not greasy and incredibly tasty!
