Two-Day-One-Night Tour: Harvest Festival, International Light, and Hualien Wonders

Every summer from July to August, the grand Harvest Festivals of various tribes in Hualien begin one after another. The unique culture of Taiwan's indigenous peoples has always been a major attraction for foreign tourists. In addition to traditional festivals and tribal culture, the natural wonders of eastern Taiwan are also a must-see highlight. Below is a recommended two-day itinerary around Guangfu, Shoufeng, and Fengbin in Hualien, featuring spectacular scenery, local festivals, and creative cuisine. Travelers can use this as a reference and adjust it according to their needs to plan their own in-depth Hualien trip.

Fenkung Cooperative & Kadafo’s Shop (kadafo)
Creative cuisine without a fixed menu, created by an Amis couple, located in the mountainous suburbs not far from the city. The restaurant design combines Taiwan’s local corrugated metal elements with modern rustic wooden decor, standing out strikingly amidst the forested hills.

As it is a set-menu-free dining experience, every dish and course is specially designed. From appetizers to main courses and desserts, the flavor transitions between dishes are astonishing, making it hard to imagine such exquisite cuisine comes from a restaurant nestled in a tribal village.

Lasoi Spring Ecological Park
Lasoi Spring was once voted the most beautiful hidden gem. This fairy-tale-like natural wonder features springs and wild streams intermingling, with breathtaking scenery completely free from artificial or concrete alterations. The indigo-blue First Spring, known as the “Blue Tear,” shaped like a heart, boasts incredibly beautiful water coloration, often described by visitors as a hue only God could create.

Xinshe Terraces
Located in Fengbin Township, the Xinshe Terraces are the largest forest-sea terraces in Taiwan. Usually covered in lush green rice fields, they transform into vast expanses of light golden paddy fields every summer.
