The world's first forest city – China's new landmark green energy resort world

As global urbanization becomes increasingly avant-garde and people gradually grow accustomed to China’s spectacular architecture, a new architectural highlight has recently been announced. Unlike past designs that focused on unusual exteriors, this new landmark is conceived around green energy ecology, creating China’s first forest city. It is planned to help reduce air pollution in China’s large cities, with the forest city to be filled with trees and plants, and the buildings themselves designed to resemble vertical forests,to be completed by 2020.

The forest city will be located in Liuzhou, in central-northern Guangxi, covering an area of 138 hectares. It will include over 70 buildings such as residences, hospitals, hotels, schools, and office towers, accommodating 30,000 residents. The city is planned to feature more than 40,000 trees and nearly one million plants of over 100 different species.

This forest city is designed by the Italian architectural firm Stefano Boeri Architetti, with a focus on ecological and green energy principles. Once completed, it is expected to absorb nearly 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of pollutants annually, while also producing 900 tons of oxygen. In addition, the city will generate power through geothermal and solar energy.
