These items cannot be checked in: Power banks most confiscated at Taoyuan Airport

Taoyuan International Airport has entered its summer travel peak. According to airport company statistics, among prohibited items found in checked luggage in the first quarter of this year, 70% were power banks, followed by lighters (16%), lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries (12%). To prevent short circuits and fires in the aircraft cargo hold that could result in delayed rescue, items such as power banks, spare lithium batteries, lead-acid batteries, and lighters must be carried on board or placed in carry-on luggage, and are not allowed in checked baggage. Only one non-blue-flame lighter is permitted as a carry-on item.

To save valuable time, none of the above items should be placed in checked luggage. Otherwise, when checking in at the airline counter and your luggage goes through the X-ray machine, it will have to be opened for inspection, which wastes time and causes inconvenience. In addition, products containing lead-acid batteries—such as rechargeable handheld fans that people like to bring in the summer, as well as LED lights, flashlights, and electric mosquito swatters—unless certified, are not allowed on board at all.
