A private scenic spot rivaling Sun Moon Lake—Tainan’s hidden gem looks like a postcard

Tainan, an ancient city rich in history and culture, is one of the favorite destinations for travelers who enjoy a nostalgic atmosphere. Located in the mountainous area at the junction of eastern Liujia and Guantian districts in Tainan, besides the well-known Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area, this place also hides many beautiful lakes. Among them, the most breathtaking is the Dream Lake hidden gem, whose lake scenery rivals that of Sun Moon Lake. With bamboo forest views reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, paired with Tainan’s traditional cultural charm, it’s worth visiting even if you have to trek over mountains.

The stunning mountain and lake scenery of Dream Lake resembles an ink-wash landscape painting. Coupled with its hard-to-reach location, it has an even more mysterious atmosphere compared to Sun Moon Lake. This area is part of the upper reaches of the Wushantou Reservoir, offering different scenes in all four seasons. In spring and summer, the sunshine is bright and the greenery is lush; in autumn and winter, the withered trees and misty haze create a desolate yet untouchably fairy-tale-like ambiance.
