Great photo spots right on the streets—Taiwan joins the world’s top three graffiti battlegrounds

The international trend of hip-hop culture has also given rise to another form of artistic expression—street graffiti. From the perspective of murals, it can be traced back to ancient Egyptian wall paintings. As for the evolution of contemporary graffiti, its origins can be traced to the period of World War II. The development of graffiti now includes the use of spray paint, stencils, posters, paper cuttings, and more—all of which can be forms of graffiti art. And hip-hop graffiti art is not limited to Europe and America; many countries also have their own street graffiti cultures.

1. Hong Kong – Hung To Road

In Hong Kong, Hung To Road features walls painted with local Cantonese greetings, showcasing the city’s unique cultural identity. In 2015, the Hong Kong government launched an urban revitalization project, with Hung To Road being one of the transformed areas. Since then, it has become a popular new art street destination for photos and check-ins.

2. USA – The Wynwood Walls

The Wynwood Walls in the United States is a famous graffiti hub in Miami. Nearly every building here features a unique graffiti style, with almost no structure untouched by street art. The rich artistic atmosphere makes every visitor to The Wynwood Walls area linger and keep taking photos.

3. Taiwan – Ximending Graffiti Wall

The graffiti wall located in Ximending, Taiwan’s movie district, is also one of the island’s street art highlights. It has caught the attention of international photography crews for location shoots, and even global brands like NIKE and Microsoft from the U.S. have been drawn to it. It is recognized as a trendsetting graffiti mecca in Taiwan.
