Top restaurants for New Year’s Eve reunion dinners offer meals with performances

With the rise of the industrial and commercial era, many people now choose to dine out for the reunion dinner. To capture the reunion dinner market, major hotels have launched special offers and even invited live performances, allowing diners to enjoy their meals while being entertained — all to heighten the festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year. Industry insiders noted that reservation rates for New Year’s Eve are already around 80–90%, and with concerns about not securing a table, many customers are trending toward early payment.

The “Good Luck Intercontinental Banquet Exhibition Center,” jointly created by A-Qiu Catering and Evergreen Laurel Hotel, opened last year and is celebrating its first Lunar New Year in operation. It has specially launched reunion banquet packages from New Year’s Eve through the fifth day of the New Year. Diners who make purchases during the six-day Spring Festival holiday will receive a lucky gift bag, which includes cultural and creative goods from the cultural park and discount vouchers, limited to 300 sets.

The operator stated that to ensure guests can fully enjoy their reunion dinners, different performances have been arranged for both lunch and dinner throughout the six days, featuring Las Vegas-style large-scale magic shows, beautiful puzzle performances, magical bubble shows, as well as luxurious Sichuan opera face-changing acts, funny clowns, and band performances. Each meal is limited to one show per table to allow guests to enjoy a multi-sensory experience for their eyes, ears, and taste buds. From February 9 to 20, there will also be a God of Wealth lucky draw activity where visitors can receive red envelopes for good fortune.

Golden Plaza Hotel is gearing up for the Year of the Dog. For its New Year’s Eve reunion dinner, it has specially prepared activities such as clown balloon art and magic shows. The operator pointed out that nearly 100 tables will be set up in the banquet hall that evening, accompanied by lion dances, singing performances, and an on-site lucky draw — guaranteeing a lively celebration.

With less than a month to go before Chinese New Year, restaurants including A-Qiu Catering, Golden Plaza Hotel, and Evergreen Laurel Hotel have already reached an 80%+ reservation rate. Industry insiders emphasized that in recent years, more and more people in Taiwan have opted to dine out for the reunion dinner. Many are also increasingly worried about not getting a table, leading to a rise in early bookings and advance payments.
