Dreamy milky-white hot spring water: Taipei’s urban hidden gem sparks photo craze

Yangmingshan is rich in natural geological features and scenic beauty, making it one of the most popular weekend destinations for Taipei residents. Xiao Yintan Waterfall, located just about a five-minute walk from the Yangmingshan Flower Clock, has recently become a hit on Instagram. Due to its most distinctive feature—milky-white sulfur springs that take on a dreamy hue when hit by sunlight—captured through the lens, it feels like stepping into a fairyland, attracting many visitors.

Xiao Yintan Waterfall isn’t tucked away deep in the mountains and is easily accessible via public transport. In addition to its milky-white waters, you can also see plenty of reddish-brown iron deposits and lush greenery all around. The cool spring water, coupled with the shaded and humid environment, makes it a favorite spot for visitors to take a refreshing dip.
