Taichung’s Century-Old Historic Campus: A Romantic Elementary School with Japanese-Style Dormitories

Qingshui Elementary School has a history of 120 years
It is Taichung’s first historic elementary school,
Its main buildings are typical schoolhouses and an auditorium from the Japanese colonial period, along with old trees, an antique bell, and a Japanese-style dormitory complex
All of which can be found in travel guides
Some travelers even bring the guidebooks and take photos following them~~

Walking in through the main gate, you’ll pass by a white horse carriage installation art piece
It was established as the Niumaotou Branch School on the site of the old Qingshui Wenchang Shrine in the year
It was renamed Qingshui First Public School in the year
It was abolished again in 1926. Then, in 1935, it was relocated to its current address on Guanghua Road. After the war in 1945, its last renaming was in 1968, when it became “Qingshui Elementary School,” a name that has been used ever since.

The Qingshui Elementary School Historic Dormitory Complex consists of six buildings with a total of 11 units,
with a history of over 80 years, originally serving as residences for principals and teachers.
If you enjoy Japanese-style architecture and want to take photos or visit,
please come during after-school hours or on weekends to avoid disturbing students’ learning.
