Yunlin’s Kouhu Township was once one of the areas most severely affected by land subsidence. The county government transformed the abandoned farmland plagued by seawater intrusion into i, Wu Retention Pond. This not only solved the flooding issue but also, through the work of nature over time, created a stunning lakeside attraction.

In addition to its picturesque lake views, i, Wu Retention Pond, together with the nearby Hukou Wetland, offers a chance to observe abundant wetland ecology—including black-winged stilts, little egrets, yellow-headed stilts, little terns, and red-necked phalaropes soaring above the pond. Additionally, the popular Jackie Chan Gathering Hall and Jackie Chan Wetland are also located nearby, just a five-minute drive away.

In addition to the Beigang River, the Jian Mountain Drainage and the Niaosong Drainage run through the area. It contains important ecological resources and is a significant wetland conservation zone.
