Everyone, stay awake！The Nuit Blanche all-nighter is here to rock Taipei’s sleepless city

“Nuit Blanche Nuit Blanche” is a global nighttime urban arts festival, first held in Paris, France in 2002, taking place overnight on the first Saturday of October every year. To date, over 120 cities have joined, including Kyoto, Melbourne, Toronto and others. Leveraging the two core concepts of “urban innovation” and “public space design,” it offers a diverse range of artworks and performances that allow people to naturally engage with art and freely explore urban spaces. This year, Taipei will also host the event overnight on October 7–8.

By breaking the boundary between mass entertainment and fine art through its all-night format and free admission, Nuit Blanche presents more diverse, fun, and cross-disciplinary works of innovative art. It blends multicultural and cross-generational aesthetics, creating a unique environment of exchange and sharing within the city. Through art, urban spaces are transformed, turning the entire city of Taipei into a one-night-only giant art museum！

The 2017 Taipei Nuit Blanche took “Gongguan” as its stage. Based on the urban cultural landscapes of the performance areas, the 2-kilometer route was divided into three major themes: “Palm Grove Electric Light Treasures,” “Wenluo Ting Independent Treasures,” and “Cross-Cultural Dream Treasures.” Multiple exhibitions and performances were arranged, along with the participation of over 30 cultural venues including the National Palace Museum, the Presidential Office, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, all opening their doors to celebrate the beauty of late-night art.
