Desert Wonders: Taiwan Also Has a Cactus Garden, a New IG Hotspot

Located in Changhua, the Pastoral Highway Garden is home to a wide variety of flowers, among which the Rural Cactus Garden features vast lush cacti that have sparked a social media photo craze.

The Rural Cactus Garden not only has cute and therapeutic small cactus potted plants but also many large cacti, perfect for capturing a uniquely American-desert-style vibe. The garden is carefully maintained by an elderly gentleman, who urges visitors to avoid damaging the site’s environment.

The Pastoral Highway Garden spans along Provincial Highway No. 1, covering gardens across Tianwei and Yongjing townships, and cultivates a rich diversity of flowers. Aside from the Rural Cactus Garden, there are other themed areas as well. Changhua is a typical agricultural county and Taiwan's largest flower production hub, offering a wide range of flowers, exotic plants, and gardening supplies for sale. The annual flower viewing season at the highway garden runs from December to February.
