Ride a roller coaster while soaking in hot springs — Japan’s first full-nude hot spring amusement park to open in July

Last year (2016), Beppu City in Oita Prefecture, Japan, uploaded a YouTube video titled “We’ll really do it if it hits 1 million views!! Beppu City 0% Naked Amusement Park Plan!” In the video, the mayor promised to make the Beppu hot spring amusement park a reality if the video reached one million views. Now it's confirmed that this hot spring theme park will open in July, but only for three days: July 29, 30, and 31. Ticket sales start today.

Located in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, Beppu is a famous hot spring town, boasting the highest volume of hot spring water output in all of Japan. But relying solely on traditional hot spring tourism wasn’t enough — so the city produced a video for the hot spring amusement park concept. The footage shows visitors walking around the park completely naked except for a towel, and even more amusingly, rides such as carousels, Ferris wheels, and roller coasters have all been turned into hot spring pools. The concept of soaking wherever you go is both novel and oddly hilarious.

The video titled “We’ll really do it if it hits 1 million views!! Beppu City 0% Naked Amusement Park Plan!” quickly surpassed one million views after its release, and has now reached over three million views. The mayor has made good on his promise, and the hot spring amusement park “Yu~Enchi” (Hot Spring Park) is set to open in July. However, it will only be open for three days: July 29, 30, and 31, with a limit of 3,000 visitors per day. “Yu~Enchi” will be created using the facilities of the existing Beppu Rakutenchi amusement park. There are three admission pricing options based on the number of adults and children in your group, ranging from 8,000 yen to 20,000 yen.
