Milk tea lovers are surely familiar with Kaohsiung’s renowned “Huada Milk Tea” brand. Although it has branches in other cities and counties, many still crave a cup when visiting Kaohsiung. But besides Huada, there are two other local favorites recommended by residents: Lao Jiang Black Tea Milk and Xiangming Tea House. You’ll miss out if you don’t try milk tea from all three while in Kaohsiung.

Known as the top black tea milk shop in Kaohsiung, “Lao Jiang Black Tea Milk” has been around for over 60 years. When locals are asked for their favorite milk tea, this is often the first answer. Its milk tea has a subtle coffee aroma, and when mixed with high-quality fresh milk, it’s simply “refreshing.” A must-try here is the signature toast series—the egg toast may look simple, but the surprise lies inside: a thick layer of egg sandwiched between the bread. The creamy egg blends with the slightly toasted crispness of the bread, creating a rich and varied texture.

Huada Milk Tea
Established in 1982, the popular Huada Milk Tea is a nostalgic drink for many Kaohsiung locals. With multiple branches across Kaohsiung, its main store is located in Yancheng District and is a must-visit beverage spot for tourists. As a long-standing shop, Huada insists on no plastic wrapping and no ice cubes. Since each tea has a fixed sweetness level—meaning choosing the tea is choosing the sweetness—if you prefer less sweetness and more tea flavor, try the Yishou Milk Tea, which is lightly sweet with just the right amount of tea aroma.

Xiangming Tea House
Xiangming Tea House has stood in Kaohsiung for over 70 years. All the teas sold here are brewed using the shop’s own tea leaves. If you’re looking for quality tea, you can even ask the owner directly—buying tea to brew at home offers a unique experience too. A must-try here is the signature fresh milk tea, made with high-quality fresh milk that enhances the richness of the entire cup, blending beautifully with Ceylon black tea for an exceptionally smooth taste.
