Every year during the autumn and winter seasons, in the coastal salt-producing regions of Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan, besides welcoming the arrival of winter migratory birds, the King Kunshen Ping’an Salt Festival will officially kick off on November 17th and 18th. Having been held for nine years, this year (101st) introduces the White Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Tourism Series and incorporates innovative elements such as street dance and kite shows, hoping to attract visitors from all over to deeply experience a unique religious and cultural celebration and enjoy the one-of-a-kind charm of the “Salt Country.”

On the two main event days, November 17th and 18th, there will also be the “Cup Throwing Challenge,” which has been the most popular with visitors in previous years. This year, riding on the hottest “Apple” trend, the top two participants who throw the most holy signs will not only receive a Ping’an Salt Fortune Bag but can also take home an iPhone or iPad. This year’s Ping’an Salt Fortune Bag is specially designed with the Black-Faced King as its main motif, featuring a solemn black background paired with cute illustrations of the Q-version king, making it very eye-catching. To thank the loyal fans of the salt bags for their continuous enthusiasm over the past eight years, Zheng Rong, acting director of the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Management Office, stated that they are launching the “Bring Back the Joy of the Salt Bags” activity.
