Duo Duo Café came into being because of the dream of opening a coffee shop. Tucked away in the alleys of Anhe Road, Duo Duo Café is a uniquely styled coffee shop housed in a standalone white building. The owner, who has a design background, incorporated many creative elements into the space. For example, the old walls and gate were removed to let in outdoor sunlight, camellias are planted outside, filling the air with their delicate fragrance from time to time. The front garden on the first floor was transformed into a glasshouse, furnished with nostalgic sofas and accented by a red brick floor that enhances the rich retro atmosphere. The high-ceilinged first-floor space features a large M-shaped open bar, allowing guests to comfortably sit by the counter and chat with the chef.

Many pieces of furniture in the café combine solid wood with more industrial-looking iron elements, featuring a rugged yet highly design-oriented look. For instance, the iron chairs rise gracefully from the concrete floor, adding height and form to the casual setting. The lighting is warm and atmospheric, highlighting the textures of the rough-hewn wooden tables. The hanging lights above cast a soft glow, adding to the cozy charm. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the greenery outside, while the stylish plant arrangements showcase the owner’s attention to detail. Many guests come here to read or work, and the café often hosts small events. In the warmer months, you can see blooming plants and enjoy the gentle summer breeze, adding to the relaxing vibe.

The café offers two brunch options: Set A is a Focaccia bacon roll with a poached egg, and Set B is smoked salmon with yogurt sauce and French-style scrambled eggs. Both are beautifully plated, giving off a breezy summer feel. Both meals come with grilled tomatoes, roasted asparagus, grilled king oyster mushrooms, rosemary potatoes, seasonal salad, fresh juice, berry yogurt, daily soup, and coffee/tea, making for a very generous spread.

The bacon is tightly wrapped around Focaccia spice bread and then baked. The juices released from the bacon are fully absorbed by the bread, preventing the bread’s texture from drying out. When served, the golden, crispy bread, infused with juices and spices, is wonderfully aromatic. It’s then drizzled with a homemade balsamic sauce to cut through the richness, resulting in a healthy and refreshing bite.
