Experience "ice fishing" in Taipei – Korea’s winter festival kicks off

As winter arrives, various winter festivals are also kicking off around the region. The Korea Tourism Organization is hosting the “2012 Korea Ski & Winter Festival Carnival ~ Snow Ski & Fun in Korea” at the circular plaza on the first floor of Pacific SOGO Zhongxiao Branch from today (21st) to November 25th. During the five-day event, visitors can experience activities such as ice fishing and making snowmen, along with lectures and exciting performances on site.

Traditional Korean games such as kick shuttlecock and tuho, trying on beautiful hanbok or cool snowsuits, as well as a wealth of information on Korean winter tourism festivals, are all available for free. The ever-popular Korean giant dolls will also appear at the event, dancing K-POP and interacting with the public, along with lively and entertaining performances by traditional Korean street performers.
From November 21st to November 23rd, every evening at 8 PM, “11/21 Food Travel Writer Wen Shikai,” “11/22 Taiwan Representative of Korean KBS Program – Beautiful Professor Xu Yiling,” and “11/23 Hallyu Chief Editor – Zhang Yuqi” will be invited to share interesting experiences from their travels in Korea.
In addition, the weekends of November 24th and 25th will be the climax of the “2012 Korea Ski & Winter Festival Carnival ~ Snow Ski & Fun in Korea” event. From 11 AM to 9:30 PM, exciting activities will continue non-stop throughout the day. Ski instructors will teach skiing techniques, allowing participants to actually put on snow boots and boards to experience the real feeling of walking on ice. Additionally, those wanting to dance some cool K-POP like their favorite Hallyu stars can catch the only KNIGHT K-POP demonstration & lesson on Saturday afternoon. Those who want to make their own little snowman can join the free snowman craft experience – limited to 160 people over two days, so early booking is recommended. There will also be a simulated ice fishing activity, open for kids to try.

The highly anticipated Korean hit performance “JUMP” will be shown at 4 PM on Saturday, November 24th, and 4:30 PM on Sunday, November 25th. This traditional Korean martial arts comedy, which has sparked joy worldwide, features a storyline like an entertaining TV drama, with various hilarious and laugh-out-loud episodes that keep the show lively from start to finish.
Through a non-verbal, purely physical performance style, it completely transcends national and language barriers, drawing audiences into the story. Combining traditional Korean disciplines like taekwondo, flying leg techniques, and kung fu, the actors use no props, relying solely on expressive movements, sound, music, superior martial arts skills, and flexibility to effortlessly fly and leap across the stage – making it a high-quality comedy performance perfect for the whole family to enjoy together.
