Taiwan’s tallest 35-meter Christmas tree — Santa “climbs” an LED full-color screen

Taiwan’s tallest 35-meter Christmas tree was lit up on December 1, kicking off the December festivities of the “New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town.” This year, the tallest and only LED full-color screen Christmas tree in the country, located in the Civic Square, has drawn nationwide attention since its test lighting, attracting many visitors to take photos in the plaza.

The Christmas tree utilizes the latest international lighting control technology, allowing each light to display 256 different colors. Through variations in color intensity, combined with three-dimensional animations depicting snowflakes, lasers, flowing lines, and radiant beams, it creates the illusion of thousands of unique Christmas tree shapes. The 3-minute-and-50-second light show features several musical pieces, showcasing the twinkling of stars that people yearn to see in the night sky. The show immerses the audience in a warm and joyful festive atmosphere.
At the top of the Christmas tree shines a dazzling star. Legend has it that the decoration star at the very top of the Christmas tree is called the “Star of Bethlehem,” symbolizing hope and love. The spectacular glow of Taiwan’s tallest Christmas tree, along with the shimmering Star of Bethlehem at its peak, fills the entire Christmas Town with love and hope.

New Taipei City’s Civic Square has been transformed into Santa’s hometown. In addition to the nation’s tallest Christmas tree, the Civic Square and surrounding areas feature a continuously spinning carousel, a flying space shuttle, adorable gingerbread houses, snow huts in the snowy landscape, and reindeer made from driftwood. The Christmas Town also offers a month-long series of exciting activities, including fairs, concerts, and street parades, aiming to bring the joy and warmth of Santa to visitors of all ages.

The lighting of the main Christmas tree also illuminates surrounding buildings, roads, and Christmas decorations and installations as far as the 10,000-ping Wanping Park, bathing the entire Xinzhuang Special District in a riot of colors. During this cold end-of-year season, and on one of the most heartwarming and festive holidays of the year, you can visit the New Taipei City Civic Square from now until January 6 to create unforgettable Christmas memories in 2012.
