Taiwan’s First “Living” Christmas Tree — Moves, Flips, and Stays at a Constant Temperature

What, Christmas tree can move, can sing, and can even roll? Taiwan’s first “living” Christmas tree made its debut today (the 13th). Not only can it adjust its height and perform dynamic movements, but the two half-floor-tall trees can also maintain a constant temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. Onlookers couldn’t help but marvel, exclaiming, “What on earth is this thing?”

Upon closer inspection, this “living” Christmas tree is actually formed by 14 competitive cheerleaders wearing special outfits with fluorescent green lines. Through various movements such as tosses, flips, and pyramids, they stack their bodies to create a 5-meter-tall, 37-degree “human-powered constant-temperature Christmas tree” that moves, changes shape, and adjusts in height.

amba i-Hotel, which created this adjustable, moving “human Christmas tree,” aims to stand out from the usual tall, flashy, luxurious Christmas trees by offering a uniquely “human” touch. To support Taiwan’s creativity and vibrancy, amba i-Hotel has specially invited the Shih Hsin University Competitive Cheerleading Team — multiple-time national champions of the University Cheerleading Championships — to perform two shows at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM on Christmas Eve, December 24 (Monday).

Dressed in costumes outlined by fluorescent green lights around adult-sized forms, the performance begins with the Christmas girl “magically” revealing all team members from a giant red gift bag. Then, through creative dance moves and high-difficulty stunts, they toss, flip, and roll in mid-air before finally stacking up to form a Christmas tree over 5 meters tall. Completing this tallest and coolest 37-degree constant-temperature “human Christmas tree” in Ximending, Amber Hsu, General Manager of amba i-Hotel, said, “We hope to bring every guest a unique experience through different creative ideas, allowing them to feel the richness and diversity of Taiwanese cultural creativity!”
