To prove that "Kenting is not a paradise for failures," the Oasis Homestay opens in the fields

The emerald-green "Oasis Homestay" is not located on Kenting’s bustling main street but rather in a small lane about a 15-minute drive from Kenting Street. Nestled among other residences, the Oasis Homestay is painted in vibrant green, making its exterior particularly eye-catching. For Huang Yourun, this place is his "oasis" and a small world he has created with his own hands.

"Actually, I can only spend time at the homestay in the afternoons because I have to sell pork in the mornings." Huang Yourun, who had to help out at the meat stall in the market every morning due to his family’s illness, can only go to the homestay in the afternoon. While organizing the interior space, he slowly builds the little world in his heart. "Some say Kenting is a haven for failures, but I didn’t come back to Pingtung to work because I failed." After graduating from university, Huang Yourun also tried his luck in Taipei. Having gained experience in the food and beverage industry, he decided to return to Hengchun, where he grew up, and transformed his family home into a homestay.

To renovate the house into a genuine "homestay," Huang Yourun took out a bank loan, personally supervised all the details, and even attended community college courses to learn more about local ecology and environmental studies. Under Huang Yourun’s care, the "Oasis Homestay" truly embodies the beauty of an urban oasis. The interior, decorated in blue and orange tones, features walls adorned with photos of deserts and camels. Walking through the homestay stairwell, you can even discover a few small cacti around the corners, as if you’ve truly stepped into a distant desert landscape.

In addition to standard double and quadruple rooms, the Oasis Homestay hides what could be called the “most affordable” loft-style accommodation in all of Kenting. The room, which can sleep six to eight people, not only features a high-ceilinged loft but also a large balcony with panoramic views of the mountain scenery. Sitting on the balcony, there are no obstructions in sight—just the complete beauty of Taiwan’s landscapes. "At night, I also really enjoy sitting here, turning on a small lamp, and soaking in that feeling of a dream come true."
