Experience the warm hospitality of Taichung’s homestays. The Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau has partnered with 45 tourism businesses to launch an exclusive “Slow Travel Passport.” Valid from January 1 to December 31, 2018, it includes discount coupons for food, accommodation, tours, shopping, and transportation. Starting now, any traveler staying at a participating homestay can receive a passport, encouraging both domestic and international tourists to “slow down and enjoy life,” immersing themselves in the local natural and cultural customs.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau held the “Slow Travel Passport” launch event on the 25th at the Meteor Garden Homestay in Fengyuan District’s Gonglaoping area. Deputy Director Chen Yu-cheng of the Tourism and Travel Bureau and Lu Guisen, Chairman of the Taichung City Homestay Association, were both present to celebrate the occasion.
Chen Yu-cheng stated that, in order to enhance the quality of homestays, starting in 2016 they have been guiding homestays to develop their own unique characteristics, launching high-quality, discounted tour packages through joint marketing efforts, and building a cooperation platform between homestays and the local tourism industry. Marketing efforts targeting foreign travelers from Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia have also been strengthened, allowing them to experience the charm of in-depth travel through homestays rich in local hospitality.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau said that travelers staying at participating homestays in Taichung can obtain a “Slow Travel Passport” starting now. The passport offers discounts on specialty afternoon tea, local farm produce picking experiences, farm product souvenirs, bicycle rental deals, and homestay accommodation discounts, providing a diverse range of slow travel experiences.
