Evergreen Taipei–Asahikawa Inaugural Flight Makes Travel to Hokkaido More Convenient

Evergreen Airlines’ Taipei–Asahikawa route officially began operations today (2nd). In addition to the long-running Taipei–Sapporo route, Evergreen Airlines has further expanded its Hokkaido network. This year marks the airline’s inaugural direct service to Asahikawa, bringing the total number of weekly flights to four destinations in Hokkaido—Sapporo, Obihiro, Memanbetsu, and Wakkanai—to 14. With two flights to Hokkaido every day, the number of available seats has doubled compared to the same period last year.

Evergreen Airlines stated that May marks the start of Hokkaido’s peak flower-viewing season. The inaugural Taipei–Asahikawa flight recorded a passenger load factor of over 90%, and bookings for the entire month of May have already reached 80%. Moreover, the launch of this new route allows travel agencies to create more flexible itineraries by combining destinations such as Sapporo and Furano. With the increased number of charter flights to Hokkaido this year, passengers can choose from more diverse travel options. The overall travel volume to Hokkaido from Taiwan is expected to rise significantly.

For the Taipei–Asahikawa route, Evergreen will operate the A330-200 aircraft, which features 24 Royal Laurel Class seats and 228 economy class seats. The outbound flight BR136 departs from Taoyuan Airport at 10:05 AM every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, arriving in Asahikawa at 3:00 PM local time. The return flight BR135 departs Asahikawa at 4:30 PM local time on the same day, arriving back in Taoyuan at 8:00 PM Taipei time. The one-way flight duration is approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Hokkaido offers unique attractions all year round—cherry blossoms in spring, flowers in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and snow activities in winter. With the opening of the Taipei–Asahikawa route by Evergreen Airlines, air travel between Taiwan and Hokkaido has become even more convenient, providing another accessible option for travelers who love Hokkaido.
