Yunlin County's Dream-Coming-True Amusement Park Trip for Families with Disabilities: Rediscovering Childhood Joy and Courage with "Little Wei"

Amusement parks are a common destination for many during school graduation trips, but for those with severe disabilities, visiting one is nothing short of a "dream come true." Initiated by Douliu Mayor Xie Shuyah, a well-known theme park launched Taiwan’s largest indoor children’s play zone 12 years ago, joining forces with operators to help children with disabilities fulfill their dreams. Now, with the launch of the "Little Wei’s Pirate Village" theme area, they have once again arranged for these children to visit, hoping to inspire a spirit of adventure that fears no difficulty.

In collaboration with Janfusun Fancyworld, Xie Shuyah arranged for ten buses to grandly enter the park. Among the passengers were individuals with severe disabilities and their families from Douliu City, Gukeng Township, and Linnei Township in Yunlin County. Regarding the arrangements of the dream-fulfillment program, the participants expressed joy and satisfaction. Twelve years ago, with assistance, they visited an amusement park with their families for the first time. Now, thanks to the help of many, they have realized a long-cherished dream. Seeing "Little Wei" brought back childhood memories of visiting the park.

Upon entering the park, the Janfusun Fancyworld team, along with costumed characters Little Wei and Viking Boss, welcomed them with smiles and hugs. They then experienced the latest pirate attraction at "Little Wei’s Pirate Village" — the Magic Mirror Maze — as well as the Haha Treasure Train. In the afternoon, they watched the special effects show "Toy Carnival" at the Rainbow Theater. Considering mobility challenges, shuttle transportation and meal services were provided throughout the day.
