“(Kookaburra...) That was the sound that woke me up during a morning desert adventure... And now, I live in Alice Springs, preparing to tour nearby Uluru communities with the Aboriginal band Sunshine Reggae. If you were in my shoes, what kind of working holiday would you want? I’m BaoBao, from Taiwan, an inland adventurer!” This is the entry video of Taiwanese girl—Chen Wen-chen (BaoBao)—who was selected as a finalist for the “Best Jobs in the World.” The phrase “from Taiwan” energized her one hundred thousand fans.

Born in Hualien, Chen Wen-chen sports a sweet smile, and every photo on her fan page shows her brimming with enthusiasm—as if she has boundless energy—that allows netizens back in Taiwan to feel her sunny vitality. Recently, ETtoday reporters connected with her online while she was in Australia. She said happily, “This time, applicants came from 196 countries, which shows that the whole world is paying attention to this competition. If I can successfully get this job, I won’t miss any chance to help the world understand Taiwan better. That’s why I emphasized in my application video that I’m from Taiwan, and I will continue to do so.” Chen Wen-chen said she happened to learn about the competition through Taiwanese TV media, which ignited her desire to share her experiences in Australia—not only to talk about how fascinating Australia is but also to encourage everyone in Taiwan to “face their dreams and pursue the life that suits them best.”

When talking about the most unforgettable experience in Australia, Chen Wen-chen excitedly said: “Being part of the touring concert crew of Australian superstar Archie Roach!” She shared how she traveled with the band back to their hometown, located at the end of the Great Ocean Road. Along the way, they stayed in storybook-like cabins, desolate small towns, and celebrated last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival in oak forests. There was even a time when they set up equipment on a grassy field but were surrounded by bulls and had to flee. With only one day left for filming, they eventually climbed to the top of a hill following a local’s guidance. Everyone huddled together in the cold wind just to capture the perfect sunset. After that, Chen Wen-chen and Archie Roach’s team toured different cities every month. She said the journey gave her deep insight into Australia, helped her build a network there, and gave her the confidence to take on the “Best Job in the World.”
