Love at First Sight Between Two Towers: Taipei 101 and Tokyo Skytree Form Alliance, Offering Free Flights to Tokyo

The world’s tallest green building, Taipei 101, and the world’s second-tallest tower, Tokyo Skytree, are officially a couple of towers now—more romantically put, they’ve fallen in love with each other. On the 13th (of the month), the two sides formally established a friendly alliance and held a signing press conference for the “Taiwan-Japan Tourism Landmark Friendship Year” at Taipei 101, aiming to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between the two places.

This alliance between the two towers follows previous friendly pacts such as those between “Yushan and Mount Fuji” and between the “Pingxi Line and the Enoshima Electric Railway,” marking yet another collaboration where both countries’ iconic landmarks—Taipei 101 and Tokyo Skytree—come together to drive the “2013 Taiwan-Japan Tourism Friendship Year.”

To celebrate the signing of the friendly alliance between the two towers, starting July 1st, visitors to the Taipei 101 Observatory will have the chance to win round-trip flights between Taipei and Tokyo, as well as Japanese accommodation and travel vouchers, and can enjoy free admission to Tokyo Skytree and explore the charm of Shitamachi.
