Even in summer, spice lovers won’t give up the thrill of eating hot and spicy food. “Spicy Stinky Tofu,” which combines Taiwan’s most iconic stinky tofu, is an absolute must-try snack for spice enthusiasts.
This renowned spicy stinky tofu stand has moved from a lively alley on Nanjing East Road to a more hidden location on Ning’an Street, but regulars still flock here to taste the owner’s cooking. The owner, who has manned this stall alone for years, humbly says, “Business isn’t great—I can handle it on my own.” But in truth, when it comes to food near Yuda Vocational High School, this spot is always on the list.
Handmade stinky tofu isn’t just cooked—it’s first simmered in a rich bone broth infused with shiitake mushrooms and a secret spicy sauce to ensure the tofu absorbs every bit of flavor. By the time it’s lifted out, the tofu is already emitting an irresistible aroma.

▲ Left: The stinky tofu arrives at your table fully infused, its golden hue soaked with broth. Right: Duck blood is also a highlight of the spicy stinky tofu, needing just as much marination as the tofu skin. Its tender, fresh texture is another draw for foodies.
The golden-brown stinky tofu is available in extra-spicy and mildly spicy options. Paired simply with shiitake mushrooms and shredded pickled vegetables, it showcases the owner’s confidence in the broth. Take a bite, and the broth bursts out—offering a tenderness you won’t find in other versions, as it doesn’t dry out from cooking. Surprisingly, the extra-spicy broth isn’t harsh or choking, remaining smooth yet potent. It’s said to be easy on the stomach, so diners can enjoy it without worry.

▲ Oyster and intestine vermicelli can also be ordered plain, mildly spicy, or extra-spicy. With simple ingredients, it delivers a refreshing taste.
