Go flower viewing！Chiayi’s over 1,000 varieties of camellia garden burst into bloom

The colder it gets, the more they bloom—camellias are in full blossom. Yixin Garden Camellia Leisure Farm in Zhongpu Township, Chiayi County, spans a vast 2-hectare area and cultivates nearly 1,000 varieties, with a total of 60,000 potted camellias blooming one after another. The most popular among visitors is the “Chanel Camellia Series,” whose pink-and-white floral shapes have even been adopted by well-known brands for jewelry designs. The camellia season continues through April next year.

Lin Xiuzhen said that camellias require good drainage, so she opted for the well-draining soil of Xinshe. Due to its slightly acidic pH, it provides the most suitable growing environment for camellias, resulting in beautifully vibrant blooms. With proper care, the plants can live for nearly a century.

Lin Xiuzhen explained that camellias come in various forms including single-petal, double-petal, peony, rose, and bead types, with six basic colors: purple, deep red, red, pink, yellow, and white. There are over 20,000 varieties worldwide, and Yixin Garden has collected more than 1,000 of them. Visitors are welcome to come and admire the flowers on-site starting now.
