Cat Lovers’ Love Story Mural Wall

If Taipei has Jing Tong, then Budai is the place to see adorable cat murals. Unlike the eclectic and free-spirited style of general themed murals, the Cat Lovers’ Love Story tells a tale through paintings. It begins with a roll of film, just like a series of photo memories that you’d want to keep.

From strangers to lying together on the grass watching the stars, the story of these cats is as romantic as many love stories – from one person becoming a family, and realizing how simple happiness can be. Fans of illustrated stories, don’t just snap a pic at the High Heel Chapel and leave Up Town. Take a detour to the back of Buxin Elementary School to check out the mural wall.

Budai Tourist Fish Market – Super Fresh

The main hub for fish and seafood in Budai Township is the Budai Tourist Fish Market. Just left of the Budai Fishing Port, you’ll see the bold words “Chiayi District Fisheries Association Direct Sales Center” written on an old water tower. Cross over “Buxin Bridge,” and to the left you’ll find the fish auction area and the tourist fish market. Whether farmed fish, freshly caught seafood, or imported marine products, you’ll find them all here. Seafood lovers shouldn’t miss this.

Also, there’s the most famous local snack here:Oyster Patties. Since the oysters in Budai are mainly farmed in deeper waters, they are not only less polluted but also feed on more plankton, making them both healthy and large. These oyster patties, stuffed with leeks, eggs, and plenty of oysters, are also a current hit among the Budai fishing port snacks.

Budai Seaside Long Causeway Night Scene Lights

The Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Scenic Area Administration has created a new night view spectacle for Budai Port, themed around nostalgia and the former nickname of Budai Port as the “Little Shanghai.” It’s like stepping through a time tunnel back to Budai Port 38 years ago, or like being in the “Night Shanghai.”. In its earlier heyday, Budai was known as the “Little Shanghai.” Now, it combines a commercial port, yacht harbor, and fishing port, attracting many visitors all year round.

By day, it’s an art installation; by night, it sparkles with enchanting lighting. On clear days, the bridge’s reflection on the water creates a dreamy scene. Especially captivating is the new bridge’s Rainbow Waterfall, which performs every half hour between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. This dazzling light show is a brand-new nighttime attraction in Budai that no lover of experiences should miss.

In this coastal town of Budai, which enjoys around 280 days of sunshine a year, there were once snow-white salt fields. Though those have become history, the fresh seafood of Budai Fishing Port and its emerging beautiful sights have brought this humble town back to life.
