Travel to space in Tokyo — Embark on an "interstellar manhunt"?

“Hey, there’s a fugitive sitting right among you, and we’re about to start the chase!” The camera suddenly pans to my friend, capturing their panicked expression and displaying it at the top of the screen. Immediately after, a flurry of action kicks off as part of the “fugitive hunt.” We’re seated in high-pressure flight vehicles, speeding through various terrains to escape this international manhunt.

This approximately five-minute “manhunt” is packed with tension that has everyone screaming. During the ride, you’ll encounter characters from Star Wars such as Master Yoda and Darth Vader, who appear beside the spacecraft, discussing the enemy situation in tense voices. The scenery rockets past outer space before suddenly darting into a desert, and sometimes, if you’re not careful during a sudden brake, your whole body will shake along with the vehicle.

What seems like a terrifying fugitive chase is actually the new “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” attraction, launched by Tokyo Disneyland on May 7 of this year (2013). It’s a complete renovation of the long-popular “Star Tours” ride since 1989, now renamed “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.” With as many as 50 different 3D situational adventure scenarios, randomly combined each time, no two rides are ever the same. The upgraded ride also features enhanced screen detail and more responsive seats, delivering an intensely immersive experience that’s wildly thrilling.

“Many guests ride once and then immediately get back in line for another go, because the content changes every time — it never gets old,” describes Kenji Yamasaki, PR representative at Tokyo Disneyland. “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” houses six StarSpeeder 1000 flight vehicles, each accommodating 40 passengers. Before each mission begins, you can observe the appearance of the planet you’re heading to while waiting in line, adding to the excitement and appeal.
