The "Yellow Duck," which had been on display in Hong Kong for over a month, officially concluded its exhibition last night (the 9th). Following the end of the evening viewing period, the duck was deflated as it said goodbye to the people of Hong Kong and prepared to move on to its next destination in the United States. Yesterday afternoon, large crowds gathered along Victoria Harbour to say their final goodbyes to the Yellow Duck. People took photos and waved, saying, “Goodbye little duck, we’ll miss you.”

The 39-day Yellow Duck exhibition is estimated to have brought around 7 million visitors to Hong Kong. The massive 15-meter-tall, 500-kilogram Yellow Duck, designed by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, was created to evoke a sense of “healing” through its adorable appearance, while also carrying hopes for world peace and harmony.

On the final day of the Yellow Duck’s exhibition in Hong Kong, light rain fell in the afternoon, but Harbour City still saw huge crowds coming to say goodbye to the duck. Many people waved repeatedly in front of the duck, with some saying that as they left Hong Kong on their final day, a cloud drifted over the duck’s head. “It seems the Yellow Duck really didn’t want to leave Hong Kong—it felt sad too!”
