The annual music extravaganza — the Gongliao Marine Music Festival is set to take place on July 10. This year, for the first time, a short film will be produced for promotional purposes. Additionally, two renowned musical acts, Mayday and Sodagreen, will perform on stage, along with the indie band Suixing, the winner of last year’s “Marine Independent Music Award.”

Music knows no borders. In addition to performances by popular Taiwanese indie bands and singers such as Won Fu, Chairman, Echo, Bai An, Jia Jia, and io, the festival will also feature well-known bands from Russia, the United States, Australia, and Japan. Taiwan’s two biggest musical acts, Mayday and Sodagreen, will take the main stage on the first and final days of the event.

Beyond the high-energy rock performances, ten finalist bands — selected from 234 competing groups, including TRASH, TuT, P!SCO, FLUX, 中离狗 (Off-Dog), 丘与乐 (Hill & Joy), 林少纬&使坏 (Lin Shao Wei & Make Trouble), 鹿角乐团 (Deer Antler Band), 暗黑白领阶级 (Dark & White Collar Class), and 蜜糖女郎 (Honey Girls) — will compete for the “Marine Independent Music Award.” Additionally, last year’s award-winning band Suixing will return to deliver an electrifying performance for fans.

New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu stated that dreams need a stage. The music festival is not only about youthful energy but also a significant milestone for emerging bands and singers on their musical journeys. He expressed hope that it will continue to provide a platform for realizing musical dreams in Taiwan. In recent years, the organizers have actively sought domestic and international performance opportunities to help raise the profile of the winning bands.
