Taiwan’s Purest Beach Comes Alive: The Masago Music Festival Kicks Off in July

As summer arrives, the 2013 Tainan Masago Music Festival is set to ignite passionately on July 12 and 13 at the Masago Coastal Recreation Area. This year’s festival places special emphasis on local culture and environmental issues, aiming to inspire love for the land and life through the universal language of music.

This year’s lineup is stellar, featuring 10 talented artists and bands including Golden Melody Award winner Patty Huang, rock icon Chang Chen-yue, ballad queen Ding Dang, leading rock band Quartet, and rising acts Like Saturday, Universe, and Bear Baby. The evening “Summer DJ Swing Night” will not only showcase performances by the head DJ from Taiwan’s renowned nightclub 18TC, but also incorporate the viral Harlem Shake, reimagined as the exclusive “MASAGO Healthy Shake” for Tainan Masago, inviting everyone to sway healthily and party through the weekend night.

Known as Taiwan’s purest beach, Tainan Masago returns this music festival to its most authentic and original essence of loving music, allowing all to hear the clearest and purest sounds. To align with the event’s pure and natural spirit, the organizers are hosting a “MASAGO Healthy Shake” event on July 6 at Masago Beach as a warm-up to the Summer DJ Swing Night on July 12 and 13, along with a hundred-person human-letter formation activity.

Unlike other maritime music festivals that often focus on festive, hippie, or rock-themed celebrations, this year’s Tainan Masago Music Festival uniquely integrates local cultural elements and environmental awareness, specially designing both the concert program and surrounding activities to reflect local spirit. The music program is divided into youth folk and energetic rock themes, aiming to let attendees experience the rich diversity of musical expression through two days of distinctively themed performances. In addition, the organizers have planned a variety of engaging fringe events such as food markets, lucky draws, travel packages, and hotel discounts, hoping to boost the development of Tainan’s coastal tourism industry.
