May this world be as fairy-tale-like as the Karuizawa Grimm Fairy Tales Exhibition

During our growth, we have more or less heard of famous Grimm fairy tales such as "Snow White," "Cinderella," "Hansel and Gretel," "Rapunzel," or "The Frog Prince." These stories always use simple, humorous text, paired with beautiful illustrations, to reveal various complex life philosophies. RecentlyKaruizawaThe Picture Book Forest Art Museum hosted the "Grimm Fairy Tale Picture Book Original Art Exhibition," showcasing a series of picture book illustrations by renowned British illustrators Errol Le Cain and Bernadette Watts, allowing everyone to revisit these classic masterpieces through these beautiful pictures.

Coming up At the museum, you can see the classic illustrations of the late British illustrator Errol Le Cain, such as this catalog illustration from "The Twelve Dancing Princesses." The Picture Book Forest Art Museum is locatedin Karuizawain the southern part of Karuizawa, covering an area of 15,000 square meters. It is a picture book-themed art museum. From JR KaruizawaNorth Station, you can take the local loop bus to get there, getting off at Fumoto Park or Shiozawa Lake, then walk for 8 to 10 minutes to reach the museum.

This "Grimm Fairy Tale Picture Book Original Art Exhibition" is held in the second exhibition hall of the museum. It not only includes classic picture books by Errol Le Cain and Bernadette Watts over the years but also displays over a hundred of their artworks. Errol Le Cain often used fairy and courtly elements as themes, with luxurious and intricate, highly magical painting styles; Bernadette Watts focuses on fresh and natural aesthetics, excelling in drawing animals and flowers, with a gentle style. Everyone can explore the artists’ creative journeys through these manuscripts.

The pop-up book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by illustrator Zdenko Basic has been out of print in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but it can be easily obtained at the Picture Book Forest Art Museum. In the Forest House, you can hunt for rare collectible picture books. In Hong Kong, only large bookstores have dedicated picture book sections, and most of the stock is limited to newly published titles with few varieties. At the Picture Book Forest Art Museum, you can easily find both new and old picture books from around the world, making it an ideal spot for picture book enthusiasts to expand their collections.

In addition, next to the Forest House, there is also the "Green Shade Tea Salon" tea room, where fans can enjoy reading the in-store collection while savoringKaruizawa-produced floral tea and desserts, creating a very relaxing atmosphere.
