First Hotel Opens on Qijin Island, Showcasing Sea Views, Sunsets & Seafood to Attract Summer Tourists

The first hotel on Qijin Island, a popular tourist destination in Kaohsiung, has officially opened. "Qijin Tao Hotel" launched this morning (28th), featuring sea views, sunsets, and Qijin’s fresh seafood cuisine, aiming to attract summer vacation travelers.

In the past, Qijin was filled with numerous street vendors, creating a cluttered scene. The city government established the Qihou Tourist Market as a fixed location for these vendors. With its fishbone-shaped steel structure and solar-powered green architecture, it won the Gold Award at the 2010 "National Excellence in Construction Awards," becoming one of Qijin's landmarks. In addition to housing a tourist market on the first floor, to revitalize the entire building, the city government also attracted private investment, leading to the creation of Qijin’s first hotel—Qijin Tao Hotel.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu stated that the area around the Qihou Tourist Market is the most scenic part of Qijin. With the hotel now open, it offers accommodation, leisure, and dining options, which will spur further development along the beach and shoreline. The city government is actively working on the restoration and greening projects along Qijin’s coastline. Next steps include tendering for the redevelopment of the old Qijin District Office and Qijin Hospital. There is considerable interest in Qijin’s transformation, and hopes are high for even more thriving tourism in the future.

Qijin Tao Hotel is located on the third floor of the Qihou Tourist Market. It was developed by "Fangguo Asset Development Company," which also operates "Mandarin Tao Residences" in the Fengjia Night Market in Taichung, after winning the bid. The company invested nearly 100 million NTD in renovating the space, crafting a strong maritime ambiance and vacation atmosphere. The hotel features over 70 guest rooms and the Qiwangjiao Restaurant, which serves creative seafood dishes. The rooftop has been transformed into an open-air bar called "Yang Bar," offering American-style snacks and signature drinks. Guests can enjoy the vibrant sunset clouds and twinkling fishing boat lights while feeling the cool sea breeze, immersing themselves in the beauty of Qijin at a leisurely pace.
