The New Taipei Danfeng-Huilong MRT stations open on the afternoon of June 29    Visit Peony Heart Ecological Park

The Danfeng and Huilong stations on Taipei’s Xinzhuang MRT Line officially opened at 2:00 p.m. on June 29. Within one month of the opening, passengers using an EasyCard to ride the newly opened Danfeng–Huilong section will enjoy free fares. With the full opening of the Xinzhuang Line, an ecological day trip to Danfeng Youth Park (Peony Heart Ecological Park) is a great leisure option suitable for all ages.

Located in Danfeng, Xinzhuang, Youth Park recently won the top spot in the “New Taipei City Parks Popularity Award” online vote. To get to the park, get off at Danfeng Station, then turn right onto Shoushan Road after walking along Zhongzheng Road—it’s about a 25-minute walk to the trail entrance. Peony Heart Ecological Park lies between Yankoukeng Creek and Shiba fenkeng Creek, on the southeastern edge of the Linkou Plateau. It is New Zhuan District’s only nature conservation park, covering 15 hectares, with the highest point around 200 meters above sea level—making it a national trail suitable for all ages.

Liao Rongqing, Director of New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau, recommends families take the MRT here for a nature outing. After a day of exploring, you can visit the nearby Xiang Ren He Bell and Drum Factory near Xinzhuang MRT Station. This traditional handcrafted drum workshop produces durable, high-quality drums with deep, resonant sounds—including ceremonial drums, temple drums, sutra-reciting drums, Tang drums, bass drums, lion dance drums, and dragon drums. The Xiang Ren He Bell and Drum Factory offers detailed exhibits on the history of drum-making, the crafting process, and the artworks and collections of Master Wang Xikun, as well as fascinating cross-disciplinary pieces that blend sculpture, painting, and dyeing techniques.
