Taiwan’s Only “Jasmine Flower Garden Dream Museum” Opens – Come Experience the Fragrance of Jasmine

With its dense fields of jasmine flowers, Huatan Township in Changhua County has long been known as the homeland of jasmine. The Huatan Township Farmers’ Association has repurposed an idle old grain barn next to its offices, incorporating Taiwanese cypress beams and pillars over 70 years old, to create Taiwan’s one and only “Jasmine Flower Garden Dream Museum.” It invites the public to explore the enchanting allure of "overnight-scented" jasmine.

The Jasmine Flower Garden Dream Museum officially opened on the 30th. Spanning over 100 ping (approximately 330 square meters), the museum features themed areas including the Secret Garden of Jasmine, the Jasmine Boutique, the Jasmine Kitchen, the Tea Roasting Room, the Tea Tasting Area, a DIY classroom, as well as free interactive games. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offers free admission, and operates year-round.

The Huatan Farmers’ Association noted that Huatan’s hilly terrain is ideal for growing jasmine. Since the 1960s, jasmine cultivation has flourished here, with the area once boasting 180 hectares of jasmine fields at its peak, producing 1 million kilograms of jasmine flower buds annually for making scented tea. In recent years, due to competition from imported jasmine, the acreage has declined, but around 80% of domestically produced jasmine tea still comes from Huatan.

And of course, there's no shortage of jasmine-inspired cuisine. The farmers’ association has developed creative food items such as jasmine-infused tea eggs, jasmine flower cakes, jasmine-flavored pork trotters, jasmine-scented eggs, and a range of jasmine flower liquors. For everyday use, jasmine-scented soaps and essential oils are also popular. Additionally, visitors to Huatan can stroll through romantic jasmine fields, explore brick kilns, visit local farms, and delve deeper into the charm of this homeland of jasmine.
